The Tyler Tap Chapter of the Cotton Belt Rail Historical Society (CBRHS) was formed in 1995. The membership is made up of people who have an interest in the history of the railroad industry and it's contribution to this great country. |
| There are 4 general membership meeetings of the Cotton Belt Rail Historical Society, Tyler Tap Chapter held each year. The first 3 are held in the first 3 quarters at the historic Cotton Belt Rail Depot, 210 E. Oakwood Street, in downtrown Tyler, Texas. The last meeting is a social held at a local restaurant during December. You are invited to attend and experience the museum setting. Please contact the museum for information on the next meeting. | |

The CBRHS, INC. is dedicated to the preservation of history, photos, documents, etc. of the Saint Louis, Southwestern Railroad.
THE TYLER TAP CHAPTER established in 1994, was named for the narrow gauge railroad built in 1877 that was designed to connect the City of Tyler with the mainline of the Texas and Pacific Railroad at Big Sandy and the Iron Mountain Railroad in Texarkana, AR.
The mission Of The Cotton Belt Rail Historical Society, Inc., Tyler Tap Chapter, is to perpetuate the memory of the St Louis, Southwestern Railroad, affectionately called the “Cotton Belt Route”, and to inform and educate the generations to railroading’s contribution in the expansion and progress of the South Central area of the United States. To facilitate this mission, the members of the Cotton Belt Rail Historical Society, Inc., Tyler Tap Chapter, has dedicated themselves to the collection of information, publications, folklore, memorabilia, artifacts, etc. that have any connection to the Cotton Belt, or railroading in general, and to make this material available to the public by establishing, maintaining and operating the Cotton Belt Depot Museum in Tyler, Texas.
CBRHS officers and directors are all non-paid volunteers. The Cotton Belt Rail Historical Society, Inc., Tyler Tap Chapter is operated as an American tax-exempt nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)3 of the United States Internal Revenue Code (26 U.S.C. § 501(c)) and titles 1 and 2 of the Texas Business Organizations Code (BOC).
